About India: The Land
of Mythology
India is the largest democracy in
the world and amongst the top ten industrially developed nations
in the world today. In spite of its being second most populous
nation in the world, India's economy has been making a steady

Rajasthan is another state in the north west which is famous for
its forts and sand dunes. Down south Kerala is famous for its
tranquil and palm fringed beaches and Goa offers best of Five star
facilities and is known for all kind of water sports and
magnificent beaches. Tamil Nadu another southern state has
centuries old Hindu temples; Meenaskshi temple in Madurai being
the most sought after by the tourists. Orissa located on the
eastern coast has Sun Temple in Konark. Every region has different
varieties of food to offer. Indian people are generally very
hospitable and the Indian Government is also promoting tourism in
a big way. For most of the western tourists this country turns out
to be extremely cheap and yet not compromising with the quality of
services.
Famous hill stations in India:-
Srinagar: It is the capital of
Jammu & Kashmir and is situated in the midst of Kashmir valley. It
is famous for its lakes like Dal lake and Nagin lake. Shalimar and
Nishat gardens are also well appreciated by the tourists for their
Moghul architecture. Nearby places like Gulmarg and Sonmarg are
very popular sking destinations.
Simla: The capital of Himachal
Pradesh is just 3 hrs drive from Chandigarh. It used to be very
popular with Britishers who made it their summer capital. Various
places are The Ridge, Vice regal lodge and Naldhera golf course
are worth visting.
Mussourie: Situated in Uttaranchal
pradesh in the north. It is also known as the queen of hills.
Laddakh: Also in Jammu & Kashmir,
its peculiar landscape dotted with pristine lakes and Buddhist
temples attract tourists from all over the world.
Dharamshala: This township is
nestled in Shivalik ranges of HImalayas, situated is the main
verve centre of Tibetans living in exile in India. Dalai Lama,
their spiritual head lives in this place.
Nainital - Located in Uttranchal,
this place is famous for its lakes in the high altitude.
Darjeeling: Most famous hill
station of eastern India near Kolkata, It has a lot to offer,
including, breathtaking scenic beauty and world famous Tea
gardens.
Ooty - The only hill station in
Southern India located on the Nilgiri Hills. It is popular for its
scenic beauty and Tea gardens.
