8 of the Best Movie Trailers to Watch With Cannabis

Alfred Hitchcock once said the standard length of movies is two hours because that’s how long most people can go without a restroom break. While we’re not sure if that’s strictly true, he may have been onto the benefits of enjoying shorter forms of entertainment.

Watching a movie is one of the best things to do when you consume cannabis—but they’re such a commitment. If you’re also folding laundry or swiping through Instagram, paying attention to the plot of a feature-length film can be difficult.

But this is where movie trailers come in. They’re the ultimate form of passive entertainment—and efficient, too. You can watch any movie you want in under five minutes.

If you’re enjoying a relaxing indica cannabis strain such as Purple Urkle, or something more stimulating like these five marijuana strains that help fight fatigue, movie trailers can really set the mood.

Movie trailers can be anything from relaxing to surreal to just plain absurd. So, break out the popcorn and check out this list of our favorite trailers to watch after you’ve consumed some marijuana.

1. The Emoji Movie: A World of Fun Visual Effects

The best thing about trailers is being able to enjoy movies you probably wouldn’t want to watch in their entirety. This ironically awesome trailer for “The Emoji Movie” seems like something your kids would force you to see, if they were old enough to use a phone.

After trying a sativa marijuana strain like White Widow, known for enhancing visual effects, you may actually enjoy looking at these smiling tennis balls in a surreal, animated world, voiced by comedy legends like Maya Rudolph and Steven Wright.

3. The Goonies: The Height of ‘80s Music & Fashion

You should definitely scan the ‘80s classic “The Goonies” for fashion tips. Between Stef’s super ‘80s glasses and Chunk’s aloha shirt, there are many to choose from.

This trailer has it all—except, regrettably, the iconic Cyndi Lauper song “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” that features in the film. You could always turn the sound down on the trailer and play the song while watching to get the full Goonies experience.

4. Turkish Star Wars: The Bootleg Cult Treasure of Star Wars Movies

If you’re up for a unique and admittedly somewhat bizarre and absurd trailer that will leave you howling, cue up this trailer for “Turkish Star Wars”. This is an incredibly low-budget ‘80s cult film that features bootleg “Star Wars” footage set to the stolen soundtrack from “Indiana Jones”.

If you’ve ever been high near a college campus, this movie will take you right back there. If you’re going to give “Turkish Star Wars” a try, pair it with a sativa marijuana strain that makes you laugh, like Jack Herer, which should help you get ready for epic kung fu scenes in a cave—with mummies, robots and wizards.

5. Purple Rain: Uplifting & Happy Music Featuring Prince at His Best

The man, the myth, the artist formerly known as Prince. If you’re in need of something fun and uplifting, check out this trailer for the film that put Prince on the map: “Purple Rain”.

Why spend hundreds of dollars on the world’s finest sushi when you can watch the trailer for the surprisingly compelling documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi”?

Jiro is a master chef who embodies the tradition and work ethic central to Japanese cuisine.
This film truly brings the craftsmanship of sushi to life. The shot of soy sauce going off a paint brush in slow motion is truly amazing and would pair well with appetite-inducing marijuana strains like White Fire OG or Blueberry.

7. The Beastmaster: Cute Animals in an Epic Barbarian Fantasy

“The Beastmaster” looks like a standard barbarian film, but it features a man who can speak to animals, including a killer hawk and twin ferrets. So, it may be obvious that this trailer would pair well with a cannabis strain that always leaves you in a fit of giggles.

If you like surfer hair, goofy monsters, and unnaturally huge muscles that remind you of a certain former California governor, this cult classic’s for you.
