Is Weed Legal in Colorado?

Legalization Status
Recreational cannabis is legal for adults 21+; medical cannabis is legal for adults 18+ and minors with a caregiver.
Medical Documents Requirements
Medical marijuana cards are granted to residents 18 and older who have a qualifying medical condition. (Minors who have qualifying medical conditions can also get cards, but their parents/caregivers need to see two providers and submit two provider certifications. Benefits include possessing more than two ounces (if medically necessary), ability to join a medical marijuana cooperative (which grows marijuana and offers consistent access and quality) and lower taxes on purchases. You need to fill out an application form, get a medical marijuana Physician Certification, Colorado ID and a fee.
Possession Limits
Adults can possess up to 2 ounces of cannabis at a time.
Home Growing Limitations
Residents can grow up to six cannabis plants per resident (21+). Some counties and municipalities have other rules. (For example, residents in Denver are limited to 12 plants, even if there are three or more adults (21+) who live in the home.)
