Is Weed Legal in Texas?

Legalization Status
Recreational cannabis is currently illegal; low-THC medical cannabis (less than one percent by weight of tetrahydrocannabinols) is legal for adult patients 18+ and minors.
Medical Documents Requirements
Patients must get a prescription from a qualified physician who is registered with the Compassionate-Use Program. The physician electronically records the prescription and patient information in the Compassionate-Use Registry of Texas system. Patients can pick up their prescription from a licensed dispensary—they’ll need their ID and last five digits of the social security number.
Possession Limits
Low-THC cannabis can be consumed for medical use in any way except for smoking. 1 milligram of cannabis product can contain up to 10 milligrams of THC.
