Tinnitus & Marijuana

Tinnitus is a condition that creates a sound (buzzing, ringing, clicking, whining, whistling, or rushing noise) in the ears that is only heard internally. It can become extremely persistent and can cause irritation. It can even lead to conditions such as depression. Recent studies have suggested that there are CB1 receptors in the cochlear nucleus of the ear. It is thought that these receptors are important for auditory function. A depletion or lack of stimulation in them can be related to the development of tinnitus. Even among people whose tinnitus don’t respond to cannabis, marijuana may help relieve some of the anxiety, insomnia, and stress that can be caused by it.
