Glaucoma & Marijuana

Glaucoma describes a group of diseases that attacks the optic nerve and causes blindness. The most common symptom is gradual loss of vision. Nerve damage, caused during Glaucoma, is normally due to a buildup of pressure in the eye. As the endocannabinoid system within the eye is becoming more well known, it is now thought that THC can help reduce the pressure in the eye. CBD does not provide the same relief, but it does provide neuro-protective effects that may prevent the retinal ganglia from injury by Glaucoma. Medical marijuana is most often administered through oral forms or smoked/vaporized to aid with glaucoma.
