Is Weed Legal in Alabama?

Legalization Status

Recreational cannabis is currently illegal; medical cannabis is legal for adults 19+ and minors with a caregiver. The Alabama medical cannabis program is currently under development by the Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission and is currently not registering patients. Registration is scheduled to start in late 2023.

Medical Documents Requirements

When the program is available, patients with a qualifying condition will need to be certified by a registered physician. Patients must then be registered with the Commission and will be issued a valid medical cannabis card.
