In order to approve you, the healthcare professional must be a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant who is qualified to treat the qualifying condition, be licensed in good standing in New York. They also must have taken the Health Commissioner’s approved medical marijuana course and registered with the New York State Department of Health’s Medical Marijuana Program. If a physician assistant is providing the approval, their supervisor must also be registered in the Program.
