Does sublingual CBD interact with smoking cessation medications? If yes, then how does one adjust both meds?

"I am taking 20:1 5mg CBD sublingually to deal with the inflammation aspect of lymphedema (s/p lymhadenectomy for endometroid cancer). Does the CBD have negative interactions with Bupropion SR (I have been taking 100mg bid for the last 10 years). Neither my physician or pharmacist could help with this question!"

Serious drug interactions have not been seen with Cannabidiol (CBD) in combination with any other drug. There have been very few adverse interactions reported. However, marijuana can affect the absorption rates of some prescription medications. In vitro studies indicate that THC and CDB have limited ability to inhibit the activity of CYP450 enzymes. Cannabinoids interact with the metabolic pathway Cytochrome P450 in the liver & intestines. Some medications also interact with the P450 enzymes. Bupropion is metabolized in the liver by the cytochrome P450 isoenzyme CYP2B6. Marijuana may increase the medication levels in the blood. I would engage with the provider that placed you on your meds, in order to monitor the effects as an extra safety precaution.
