Q&A

How can I get a doctor to let me use some type of marijuana? I am going through radiation & oral chemo

"Right now for colorectal cancer. Having a hard time with staying asleep and some pain. I don’t like to take pain killers and that is what they have me on. "

Unfortunately what you are experiencing is all too common. Only 1 medical school in the country teaches a course on the endocannabinoid system and what cannabis can do and 13% of the others just mention it. Lack of knowledge by physicians is one of the main stumbling blocks in the wider use of cannabis to help treat medical conditions.

For the use that you are asking about, cannabis would be very helpful. As recent as last week the National Academy of Science published their review of cannabis and one of the conditions that they found cannabis in fact helped was chronic pain. They also found it helped in helping the nausea that can occur with chemotherapy. I would point any physician that is reluctant to suggest cannabis in this direction.

Very soon HelloMD will be publishing a nationwide directory of physicians who are educated about cannabis and who you will able to connect with.
