Q&A

How do I use your service to get a medical card and how long does it take?

I am sorry we missed your Oxycodone but if you go back and review the information you gave when filling out your paperwork, you did not mention this medication at all but there were 3 other medications you are taking that could also interact with cannabis. You may search for drug to drug interactions at drug.com where you may put in each medication and cannabis to see the potential interactions. When I am recommending cannabis I am usually requesting that patients tell their primary care practitioner so you can be weaned off the appropriate pharmaceutical medications since Prescription medications carry more dangerous side effects than Cannabis.
I have found that most people do not give a complete list of their medications because I think they forget. You are ultimately always responsible for checking your medications because you are the one who would suffer any side effects.
Your current medications could be potentiated by cannabis but ultimately you should consider weaning down and maybe going off most of your medications as cannabis starts to improve your health.

You will need to register, fill in your medical history, pay. During doctor’s hours, you will join the video meeting and then the queue where you will you wait for an available doctor, which usually takes about 1-5 minutes. Prior to seeing your doctor, you will be greeted by a customer service representative who will answer any non medical questions.

Once a doctor is available, they will join your video meeting. The doctor has your confidential medical record in front of them and they are able to review your medical condition(s) with you and talk about cannabis and whether this appropriate for you. You should tell your doctor about any of your concerns and whether you have used marijuana before as this is important information for them to know. This is just like any other medical evaluation, however it is over Telehealth and it is about cannabis and whether this will help you.

Mail usually arrives 3-5 business days after approval from the Doctor.

Upon approval, you can immediately print a PDF copy from your HelloMD account. You can find it by going to your "View Medical Card" or by clicking on this link: https://medical.hellomd.com/dashboard

Some dispensaries will accept the PDF copy, and others may request an embossed version*, which will be mailed to you with your ID card the same day via USPS (allow 3-5 business days to receive it). We recommend you call ahead, and ask if they are require an ’embossed stamp’ on the recommendation.

Delivery services are often more flexible with the PDF copy.

If you need to find a dispensary, please check here: www.hellomd.com/biz

Your local dispensary can check the validity of either version by visiting: www.hellomd.com/verify

*Note that there is nothing in CA law that requires the embossed version. This is an individual requirement of the dispensaries themselves.
