I am looking for a way to address my pain without taking pain meds that irritate my stomach.

"I’m 72 years old, physically active, fit for my age and am generally in good health however I suffer from neuropathy in my feet which can be quite painful at times. I also have a hip replacement that can be very uncomfortable especially in cold damp weather.
I am looking for a way to address this pain without taking pain meds that irritate my stomach. I am very interested in trying Cannabis as a way to improve my quality of life and stop using over the counter pain and anti-inflamitories that irritate my stomach. Please advise as to which Cannabis product my help my situation. "

Cannabis preparations that are higher in CBD are generally better tolerated in your age group. CBD (Cannabidiol) is a potent anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic and pain reliever. THC has anti-inflammatory and pain relieving benefit as well. Focus on the ratio of CBD to THC in the product.
The higher the CBD ratio to THC, the less likely you will have unwanted psychogenic stimulation, but still benefit from the other medicinal actions of the cannabinoids.

I recommend you find well labeled products that have at least a 1:1 CBD to THC ratio.
If you feel that you are still sensitive to the effects of the THC, move up to a 2:1 ratio, or 4:1.

I encourage you to keep a journal of self treatment so you can determine the dose, ratio and frequency that provides you the most benefit without undesirable side effects.

CBD has been shone to relieve pain and symptoms of peripheral neuropathy and has been shone to be protective against chemotherapy induced neuropathy if used during cancer treatment.

Topical products may be helpful for your hands and feet as well.

An additional benefit of CBD and cannabis products is that they are generally beneficial to gastrointestinal issues. In general they do not cause the stomach distress that is seen with pharmaceutical anti-inflammatories. They do not increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding either.
