Is Weed Legal in New Mexico?

Legalization Status
Recreational cannabis is legal for adults 21+; medical cannabis is legal for adults and minors with a caregiver.
Medical Documents Requirements
Medical cannabis cards are issued to qualifying patients registered for the program. To register, patients need a copy of their medical records from their healthcare provider showing the qualifying medical condition, as well as government-issued ID. The application form needs to be filled out.
Possession Limits
Recreational cannabis users can possess 2 ounces of cannabis, 16 grams of cannabis extract and 800 milligrams of edible cannabis. Patients in the medical cannabis program can purchase up to 425 units of cannabis/cannabis products over 90 days. 1 unit is 1 gram—425 units is about 15 ounces of dried flower. For tinctures, topicals and edibles, 1 unit is 200 milligrams of THC.
Home Growing Limitations
Adults 21 and older are permitted to grow six mature plants and six seedlings. There’s a maximum of 12 mature plants per household.
