Is Weed Legal in South Dakota?

Legalization Status
Recreational cannabis is currently illegal. Medical cannabis is legal for adult patients 18+ and minors with a caregiver.
Medical Documents Requirements
To receive a medical cannabis card, your physician must issue a medical certification through the state’s online portal, which will automatically create a patient account. Patients can activate the account and start the application process after this has been done.
Possession Limits
Patients are permitted to possess up to 3 ounces.
Home Growing Limitations
Patients are permitted to grow two flowering cannabis plants and two cannabis plants that are not flowering plants in their homes. To grow at home, patients must submit a photograph and diagram of the area they will use for cultivation.
